Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technology for Clean Water, Nutrition and Health
Access to clean water is a pressing issue for countless communities globally, including rural and urban communities in Senegal. This session will look at how CREATE! helps rural communities in Senegal build a sustainable future as they cope with water, food, and fuel shortages due to climate change, by providing access to affordable clean water using solar energy instead of fossil fuels. CREATE!’s work helps pump 286,000 liters of water daily from rehabilitated wells at a low-cost for communities to consume for irrigation and household consumption. Additionally, communities have harvested 20 tons of nutritious vegetables in 2018, increasing incomes, livelihoods and household food security. This session will highlight CREATE’s work in Senegal and engage participants to discuss and ask questions about the program’s ability to improve lives and rural communities through access to clean water.
