The Business of Inclusion: Can the Private Sector do the Right Thing and Still be Profitable?

Theme:

Increasing Inclusion in Commercial Markets

Date:

Monday, October 14, 2019

Time:

1:00 PM

Location:

TBD

Description:

A strong market system cannot flourish without incorporating women, youth, and people with disabilities (PWD), who continue to be excluded from market opportunities. Led by RTI International, this session will highlight their experience in implementing the USAID/Rwanda Private Sector Driven Agricultural Growth Project (PSDAG) and the Feed the Future Kenya Crops and Dairy Market Systems Activity (KCDMS), and how they designed and leveraged dedicated grant pools to de-risk agricultural investment and test new business models and product lines that demonstrate that inclusion is worthwhile from a business perspective. Participants will work through three real-life business cases to learn how to create tools and processes to incorporate social inclusion into private-sector grant competitions, negotiation, and implementation to ultimately build inclusion into profitable business models.
